Sleep is crucial for overall health and well-being. Experts recommend 7-8 hours of sleep daily. It allows your body to rejuvenate and your mind to unwind and relax. However, due to multiple reasons, many people face difficulty sleeping or staying asleep. Although sleep disorders can only be diagnosed by a mental health expert and treated accordingly, for trouble sleeping other means are also available. Several home remedies can make you calm and relaxed and thus induce sleep. Let us look at them one by one.

1. Warm Milk, Chamomile Tea

Although there is no scientific proof, drinking warm milk or chamomile might help you get a good night’s sleep. You can try both of these remedies. Milk is good for the overall health, while chamomile tea, unlike green tea, lacks caffeine and induces relaxation. When it comes to nighttime drinks, many people opt for alcohol, which is a stimulant that can interfere with sleep rather than help you sleep better.

2. Exercise

You might have experienced when you engage in enough physical activity throughout the day, you can sleep better at night. However, do not do strenuous exercises two to three hours before bedtime. It is because they increase the core temperature that can make you alert. Hence, what works better is that you get enough exercise throughout the day.

6. Temperature

You sleep better in a cool atmosphere. Hence, adjust the temperature of your room cool enough to promote sleep.

7. Dark Room

Experts say that light interferes with sleep. That is the reason the use of smartphones in bed is discouraged. Equally important is to make your room dark enough for you to sleep well.

These are some of the home remedies you can try for better quality sleep at night. Other than these, avoid caffeine and heavy meal close to your bedtime. Avoid using a smartphone in bed, you can read a book instead.
