Hemorrhoids or piles is a health disease that most people are afraid of falling for. This condition occurs when there are swollen veins around the anus and lower rectum. This is the place where waste is collected as it gets released in the form of stools. Diet is one factor that you should be extremely careful with to avoid conditions such as piles. Unfortunately, many people have made a joke of this serious condition because of which patients of piles do not tell anyone they are having this disease. Eating food that is rich in fiber and whole foods are required to relieve symptoms of hemorrhoids.
Foods to Prevent and Avoid Piles Disease
There are two types of hemorrhoids: external and internal. External hemorrhoids form under the skin near the anus region whereas internal hemorrhoids are caused in the form of lower rectal lining. We spoke to Ms. Shilpa Singh, Clinical Nutritionist from Fatima Hospital, Lucknow to help us understand about relevant diet that can prevent piles disease. She said that everyone should have low fat foods that are high in fiber to reduce symptoms of hemorrhoids.
Prunes are basically dried plums that are stewed which are high in fiber content. Just a half cup of prunes can be enough for the day to inculcate daily amount of fiber in the body. Dried prunes may help you keep stomach feel full for longer period of time. This can also help to reduce constipation and obesity, which could be risk factors for hemorrhoids. Antibacterial can cause gastrointestinal system that reduces the risk of infection.
According to multiple reports, apples contain high amount of dietary fiber that are beneficial for your skin health. The insoluble fiber that are found in apple’s skin do not get broken down into digestion and help to bulk up stool that results to laxative effect. Fiber rich fruits such as apple is must to avoid diseases like piles.
3. Have Pear
Pear is a fruit that is actually less consumed but is very beneficial for your health. It is incredibly high in fiber and other compounds that benefit hemorrhoids. A pear needs to be used for skin that may have around 6grams of fiber. It also contains fructose that can be a natural laxative.
It is rich in β-glucan that breaks down viscous gel in the colon and softens your stool. It can also help to maintain a good colon health. Consuming barley as a regular part of the diet can reduce the risk of getting piles disease.
5. Sweet Corns
Sweet corns is a very delicious and healthy food supplement that is missing from out diet. Most of the times, we have sweet corns is only when we have pizza or sweet corns mixture. Corns also contain a lot of antioxidants and prevents cellular damage from the free radicals. It can also help to lower pain caused by hemorrhoids.
6. Eat Lentils
Pulses that contain lentils stick peas, Lima beans and split peas are among the best sources of fiber that could aid in preventing piles infection. One Cup of lentil can contain around 15.6 grams of fiber. If you consume green lanterns, then it can lead to significant increase in weight. It also increases made of the stool and reduces the time it spends in the colon.
7. Whole Wheat Bread, Pasta and Cereals
Unprocessed or lightly processed whole wheat products can also reduce the risk of getting hemorrhoids. Whole wheat products are rich in fecal weight and colon transit time that could be beneficial for controlling piles. You might also have nuts and seeds along with whole wheat to increase the nutritional content of your diet.
