Facial lymphatic drainage (FLD) is a special type of massage that focuses on the lymphatic system. This system helps remove toxins, extra fluids, and waste from the body. It is different from the circulatory system because it doesn't have a pump. Instead, it relies on movement and gentle pressure to function properly.

Prriya Khandelwal, an Internationally certified Face Yoga Coach, as per her Instagram, shared important points for better lymphatic drainage. Some of them are mentioned below.

  • Use the Right Fingers: Start with your index and middle fingers. These fingers are ideal for gentle pressure.
  • Pumping the Terminus: Locate the area known as the terminus and gently pump on this area 10 to 20 times. This helps stimulate lymphatic flow.
  • Focus on the Jawline: Move your fingers below the angle of your jawline. Gently pump downwards 10 to 20 times in this area. This helps reduce puffiness and encourages drainage.
  • Gentle Rubbing: After pumping, use the same two fingers to rub gently downwards towards the terminus. If you experience any soreness, switch to gentle circular motions instead. This can help relieve tension and improve circulation.
  • Nose Area Massage: Use your ring fingers for this step. Gently pump up and down along your nose. This technique helps clear congestion and promotes lymphatic drainage in the facial area.

These exercises are specific massage techniques designed to help improve the movement of fluid in the face. These exercises can reduce swelling, promote detoxification, and enhance skin health and some of them are mentioned below.

  • Deep Breathing: Inhale deeply through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth five times to stimulate lymphatic flow.
  • Neck Massage: Gently massage from your neck to collarbone in a "J" shape 10-15 times to prepare the lymphatic system.
  • Cheek and Jawline Pinching: Pinch cheeks and jawline from the centre of your face towards your temples five times to reduce swelling.
  • Forehead Massage: Stretch the skin down from the forehead to the neck with your palms five times to relieve tension.
  • Under-Eye Massage: Use your ring finger to gently roll under your eyes to reduce puffiness.
  • Nose Area Pumping: Pump up and down along the sides of your nose with your ring fingers to clear congestion.

Incorporating the new skincare into your routine can provide numerous benefits and some of them are mentioned below.
