Limit Screen Timing

With growing technological advancement, the time people spend looking at screens has also increased significantly. Continuously looking at the screen for a long time increases strain and makes them tired. Sometimes, you may also experience dry eyes and blurred vision.

But in a time when technology has become an integral part of our lives, avoiding them totally is not possible. However, limiting your screen time is one option that you can achieve by following the 20-20-20 rule. In this, give rest to your eyes after 20 minutes by looking 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Balanced Diet

A well-balanced diet is essential for your eyes and overall well-being. A healthy diet helps to keep age-related eye problems, including early cataracts and macular degeneration, at bay. Eat a diet which is high in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. This is because they protect you from having dry eye by maintaining the tear film.

Consume foods enriched with vitamins A, C, lutein, and beta-carotene. These may include cod liver oil, sweet potatoes, butter, papaya, blueberries, apricots, and grapes since they aid in eye restoration. You can also eat kale, spinach, collard greens, zucchini, and brussels sprouts as a snack option.

Stop Smoking

Smoking has far-reaching implications not just on your lungs but on your eyes and ears too. Every smoker is at risk of getting early cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, dry eyes, uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, and even blindness. Thus, if you want intact vision, healthy eyes and body, you need to quit smoking immediately. Quitting smoking is not a hack but a step towards saving your precious life.

Outdoor Eye Protection

Many take this lightly, but the sun's ultraviolet rays can affect your eye and skin. To protect your eyes from these UV rays, make sure that you wear sunglasses when you go out in the sun. Also, people who are too curious and want to see everything should not look at the sun with naked eyes. Doing this can cause severe damage to the eyes and could even lead to blindness.

Adequate Sleep

Sleep is another important factor when it comes to healthy eyes and vision. If you are not getting adequate sleep, it is most likely that you will develop dry, itchy, or bloodshot eyes. An inadequate amount of sleep the previous night may cause the eyes to tear up less, leading to infections. So if you want to get improved vision, make sure you get adequate sleep so that your tired eye muscles can relax.
