Dynamic stretching prepares the body for physical activity by stimulating the nervous system and activating key muscle groups. This assists in better coordination, and before exercise, it makes one less rigid. Examples of common stretching that are dynamic include:

“This is why, in most cases, it is best to perform the type of stretching when the muscles are warm and more receptive to the training of the flexibility,” Varnit said.
Which Is Better Before a Workout?
Dynamic stretching is usually regarded as more efficient before the exercise since it gets the body ready to move. It elevates cardiac rate, helps circulation and muscular preparedness without reducing performance.
Varnit suggested that five to 10 minutes of dynamic stretching should be a part of the warming-up before most exercises. This will prevent muscle strains and joint injuries.
On the other hand, static stretching is better suited for post-workout routines. Doing a few static stretches after exercise helps muscles relax and gradually return to their resting state while supporting long-term flexibility.
Integrating Both for Best Results
Instead of forcing one technique against the other one, dynamic and static stretching should be used in combination, where they will be most beneficial. A well-balanced routine may include dynamic stretching before exercise and static stretching afterwards.
