How Yoga Helps In Achieving Mental Peace

Various studies highlight how yoga can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and lead a better peaceful life. ‘Yoga for Anxiety and Depression: A Review of the Literature,’ a research paper published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, claims yoga improves mental health by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and increasing emotional stability. According to the same, yoga, along with mindfulness and deep breathing techniques, has a positive effect on mental well-being. It can be a useful adjunct to traditional mental health treatments.

Below are a few more points on how you can navigate mental peace with yoga:

  • Yoga helps build discipline through its regular routine. It calms the mind and reduces stress from everyday life.
  • Practising yoga often improves focus and mindfulness, helping you stay in the present moment and clear your thoughts.
  • Yoga helps balance emotions by connecting the body and mind, making it easier to understand and control feelings like anger, anxiety, and sadness.
  • Certain yoga poses, along with meditation and breathing, help the body relax and bring a sense of calm.
  • Yoga teaches you to pay attention to your body and thoughts, which increases self-awareness and brings inner peace.
  • As people get better at yoga, becoming more flexible, stronger, and balanced, they often feel better about themselves. This increased confidence can inspire them to go after their goals with more energy.
  • Yoga can improve sleep quality by calming the mind and reducing the tension in the body, which helps promote restful sleep.

According to Komal Dubey, a certified Yoga instructor, yoga is a simple yet profound way to support the mind. “As Diljit Dosanjh rightly pointed out, yoga empowers individuals to navigate life with a sense of calm and balance. Anyone can benefit from yoga, regardless of age or experience, and it’s a simple yet profound way to support mental well-being. Through practices like yoga asana, pranayama and meditation - yoga helps calm the nervous system, reduces stress, and creates mental clarity. It allows us to become more present and grounded, enabling better emotional regulation,” she added.

Conclusion

Celebrities talking about mental health always create an impact on their followers. However, as Diljit rightly said about the importance of yoga in navigating peace in life, one can always consult a professional for the same. A yoga Instructor can provide better clarity of yoga practices and can tailor yoga sessions according to individual needs, ensuring the poses are correct and safe.
