What To Expect From Fourth COVID Wave In India?

India has seen 2 deadly covid waves till now and this is corona situation doesn't seem to get better soon enough. There have been assumptions about the fourth covid wave that can hit anytime soon in coming two months or so. Different experts and World Health Organization has issues warning to the south Asian countries to be aware. China and some other countries have seen a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases in last few days because of which the likelihood of another wave can be driven soon. Let us see what impact would it have on India according to experts. 

Fourth COVID-19 Wave in India 

According to experts of Mathematical and Statics department of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, the fourth corona virus wave is going to hit India in the month of June most likely. The deadliest wave of corona virus has been led by Delta variant of COVID-19 in its second wave. However the third wave took a different turn as severity rate remained low in India and thus it is more likely that same graph would be maintained for this upcoming wave of corona virus as well. WHO has suggested and warned India to be prepared for the 4th COVID wave and take precautions accordingly.

Will fourth wave be more dangerous? 

China has seen the worst spike in cases from last two years and thus it is frightening. COVID- strain in India could be less dangerous because of the immunization created by vaccines. In the recent press conference NITI Ayog member Dr. VK Paul has suggested that India is already geared up for another COVID hit because of its vaccination drive and policies. Most of the people have received both doses of Corona virus vaccine and other have been naturally immunized.

Effect of Fourth Wave of COVID-19

“There is no scientific evidence or epidemiological reason that could suggest that could suggest that 4th COVID wave could happen or cause adversities”, said Dr. T Jacob John, Virologist and Former Professor of Christian Medical College at Vellore. He said that there won’t be any major wave unless another new variant hits India. The chances of deadly effect or worse COVID-19 is supposedly less. But it is important to be vigilant and cautious against this corona virus cases rising again in other European and Asian Countries.
