Nutritional Richness

A study published in the journal 'Food Science and Biotechnology' shared that Donkey milk contains essential vitamins and minerals like vitamin A, vitamin D, calcium, and potassium. These nutrients are vital for overall health, supporting bone strength, immune function, and vision.

Digestibility

Donkey milk is often considered easier to digest compared to cow's milk, making it a potential alternative for individuals with lactose intolerance or digestive issues. Its composition is closer to human milk, which may contribute to its digestibility. As per the guidelines of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), donkey milk is low in saturated fat and high in unsaturated fat, which makes it easier to digest.

Skin Health

Donkey milk has been historically used in skincare due to its moisturising and nourishing properties. It contains proteins and lipids that can help hydrate the skin, improve elasticity, and soothe irritation. Moreover, a study published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition found that donkey milk aids skin lightening and protection against UV damage.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties

A study published in the Journal of Food Biochemistry found that donkey milk may have anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects, potentially benefiting conditions like inflammatory skin disorders or chronic conditions related to inflammation.

Low-Fat Content

Donkey milk typically has lower fat content compared to cow's milk, according to the FSSAI guidelines, which can be advantageous for individuals aiming to reduce their saturated fat intake while still obtaining essential nutrients.

Side Effects of Donkey Milk

While donkey milk does seem to have many essential benefits as per studies and Solanki's claims, turns out, it could have some downsides as well:

Allergies

Although rare, some individuals may be allergic to proteins in donkey milk, leading to allergic reactions such as hives, itching, or respiratory symptoms. It's essential to be cautious, especially if you have a history of milk allergies.

Nutrient Variability

The nutrient composition of donkey milk can vary based on factors like the animal's diet and health. This variability may affect the consistency of nutritional benefits across different batches or sources.

Limited Research

While donkey milk has a long history of traditional use, scientific research on its benefits and potential side effects is relatively limited compared to other types of milk. More studies are needed to fully understand its effects on human health.
