Recently, she shared that she has lost almost 50 pounds, but not for the reason most people think. Her transformation happened because she was fighting Cushing syndrome, a serious hormonal disorder that she says she needed to “survive,” not to look glamorous.

She posted a raw Instagram Reel (now deleted) where her 6-year-old son Gene filmed her lounging in bed and touring their home. But the text overlay stole the show. She cleared up rumours about her slimmed-down look. No Botox or fillers for this comedian. She dropped 50 pounds, not 30 as some said.
"Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary," she wrote. "I did it to survive." She revealed a disease made her face "extremely puffy" and could kill. "The internet caught it, and the disease has cleared." That's Cushing syndrome, she hinted. On past pods, she ditched Mounjaro after it wrecked her period.
Fans noticed her changes since the summer vacation pics. From puffy cheeks to a leaner frame, her journey sparked endless chatter. Now, she's owning it all, linking it to a serious health win.

What Is Cushing Syndrome?
In one of our previous articles, it is explained that Cushing syndrome occurs when your body makes too much cortisol over time. Dr Roohi Pirzada, Consultant Physician, Sugun Hospital, Mumbai, says it's often called the “stress hormone” disorder. It helps handle stress, but overloads everything. Common signs show up in both men and women. Truncal weight gain packs the belly while arms and legs stay thin. Moon face rounds the cheeks. Buffalo hump builds fat between the shoulders.
For women, Dr Pirzada mentions additional effects: “dark and thick facial and body hair, irregular menstrual cycle and even cessation of menses.” Comforting words for many: these symptoms are not always lifestyle-related and may point to a hormonal imbalance.
Other warning signs listed by her include stretch marks (often pinkish-purple), acne, frequent infections, bone loss, fatigue, mood changes or depression, and poor healing of cuts.
When to Pay Attention and See a Doctor
Because symptoms of Cushing syndrome can overlap with other conditions like mood swings, weight gain, and fatigue, it’s often missed or mistaken for stress or lifestyle-related issues. That’s why seeing a doctor early matters.
Dr Pirzada suggests paying attention if you notice:
- Rapid weight gain around the trunk or face, but slim limbs
- Unusual skin changes, easy bruising, acne, and stretch marks
- Mood changes, fatigue, frequent infections, or slow healing
- Hormonal symptoms: in women, irregular periods, excessive hair; in men, changes in libido
