C- Section is a process of delivering of baby in which there is a surgical procedure involved. When the delivery cannot be done through the natural ways or there is a risk of complications involved, then C-section is carried out. Some women experience muscle pain and incision after their delivery as well and this can continue for a very long period of time. Pelvic flood muscles and urinary inconsistency are some common problems that happen after the several months of delivery. Usually, women take around 4-5 months at least to recover from that surgery and that is very unpleasant. In the first postpartum appointment, there are many challenges that needs to be tackled. Here are some recovery tips suggested by expert to speed-up the process.  

Tips for Faster Recovery from C-Section 

We asked about postpartum problems and related tips in order to recover from C-Section recovery easily. Dr. Bindiya Khera, Senior Gynecologist from Fatima Hospital, Lucknow, said that there are multiple factors that need to be considered in order to improve the recovery from surgery. Every C- Section has different complications depending on the surgery and symptoms of postpartum pain, etc. Here are some tips that can help you get relief.  

1. Take Plenty of Rest 

Give your body adequate amount of rest in order to recovery from the surgical procedure. For this you need to understand that it is nearly impossible to work and perform activities as you used to do in the earlier times. Newborns keep irregular hours and you need to breastfeed them as well therefore try to take maximum amount of rest possible when your baby is sleeping. It is easier for you to feel overwhelmed and get back to your original schedule but it hold it for some time. Rest is necessary for recovery. 

2. Process your emotions 

You will have abundance of emotions inside you as you become a mother, this blast of emotions can take a toll on your life. For this you need to process your emotions well and control them in such a manner that it does not affect the recovery of cesarean delivery. Women who experience emergency delivery or traumatic birth need to follow instructions given by their gynecologist for proper recovery. Transition to parenthood can be challenging but it can get easier as you focus on reducing the risk of postpartum depression.

3. Go for regular walks 

While you are recovering from the c-section surgery, you cannot lift heavy weights or perform aerobic exercises as it may harm your health. But instead, you can go for walking to reduce your stress as well as keep the physical activity intact. Taking a walk can also reduce the risk of blood clots and other heart blood vessel issues. Parents are advised by the doctor to go for walks together that can relieve stress and improve their recovery process faster. 

4. Managing Pain 

There is almost no need for taking in excess pain without any prior complications of symptoms. After the delivery through c-section you can take pain relivers very easily, there is nothing as of problems related to pain relivers that you cannot consume. Pain relivers are usually prescribed to women that have went through c-section for a period of time. You must take experts advice and help if you are unable to get through your surgical pain.

5. Watch signs of Infection 

One of the biggest obstacles in the recovery after the c-section is the susceptibility to infections. There are many infections that can be caused in the body of women at that time because the immunity becomes low. Check your temperature in every 24 hours and monitor any signs that could be move you towards infection. Be mindful of the problems such as the following- 

  • Intense pain 
  • Red steaks coming from the place of incision 
  • Swelling 
  • Chills  

Contact a health expert in case of any of these symptoms post your cesarean process or surgery. It can happen after few days of surgery as well. 

6. Fight Constipation 

Constipation is one of the common problems that most women suffer from after surgery. C-Section surgery can cause a number of complications such as stomach muscles cramps because of weaker stomach muscles, hormonal shifts and thus can lead you to constipation. It can be very painful during the recovery time and increase the period of recovery. Ask your doctor to prescribe medicines and diet that could control and prevent you from constipation during recovery period.
