US-based dermatologists’ claim that a particular type of hair lotion that can cure male-pattern baldness will be released in the market within two years. The hair lotion cures baldness by stopping the effects of a single guilty enzyme. The scientists found that a single guilty enzyme plays a major rule in male-pattern baldness.
The researchers are already having dialogues with pharmaceutical firms about making the hair lotion, which is likely to strike the market in affirmative because of the huge percentage of people with male-pattern baldness worldwide.
The dermatologists had earlier this year announced that they had found an enzyme called prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) instructed the hair follicles to stop producing hair. The scientists identified the enzyme by screening over 250 genes implicated in hair loss. Head of dermatology, Pennsylvania University, George Cotsarelis, said that the one responsible for levels of PGD2 played a major role in baldness.
He also said that he was in talks with several pharmaceutical firms about creating the anti-baldness lotion. He also added that drugs that reduce PGD2 levels already exist in the market and therefore, developing a similar product wouldn’t take too long.
