Lung cancer is a disease caused by uncontrolled growth of lung tissues. It accounts for most number of cancer related deaths and the figure stands at 1.3 million globally. The standard treatment methods for lung cancer include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Ayurveda is used as an additional therapy with these standard treatments of lung cancer.
There are two main types of cancer namely non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer. There can also be a combination of both of them. When the cancer develops in some other body part and later effects the lungs, it is referred to as metastatic cancer. More cigarettes you smoke on daily basis and how early you started have an influence on your chances of developing lung cancer. Passive smoking is equally harmful. According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 3,000 non-smoking adults die annually from lung cancer due to passive smoking.
