With monsoon reaching its peak, we can expect a steep rise in the cases of typhoid fever among other monsoon illnesses. This year, it is going to be tougher with the constant threat of coronavirus and some similar symptoms. Monsoon invites several infections and diseases, typhoid is one of them. It is caused by a bacterium which is generally spread through the consumption of contaminated food and water. High fever

Acute and persistent fever is one of the first signs of typhoid. The increase in body temperature is out of the body’s first act of defense against hostile bacteria. In the case of typhoid, fever comes with sudden episodes of chills and an abrupt increase in the temperature. The temperature may touch 104 degrees Fahrenheit. If high fever stays for more than 4 days, you may have typhoid.


While headache is a normal thing, if it occurs along with fever, you may be having typhoid. Most of the infectious diseases cause both fever and headache along. It is because the bacteria target vital organs. You must watch out for the other risk factors of typhoid.


Since your immune system is attacked by the typhoid-causing bacteria, you may suffer from lethargy, tiredness, nausea or dizziness. You may feel fatigued without doing physical labour. This is followed by a suppressed appetite.

Loss of appetite

If after headache, fatigue and fever, you also see a decrease in your hunger, you are definitely down with typhoid. Bacteria also attack your metabolism which results in the loss of appetite. You may not feel like eating let alone drinking juice. It makes you feel weak and increases lethargic feeling.

The pathogens attack your gut and it may cause acute stomach pain or abdominal pain. In some cases, people also see swelling around the abdomen which is an indication of the need for medical assessment. If you see inflammation around the abdomen, you must visit a doctor.

Rose-colored spots
