It is common knowledge that breakfast should be full of fibre and adequate calories as your digestive system works best after a restful night’s sleep. 

In fact, a study published in the Journal Of Clinical Endocrinology And Metabolism recommended that extensive breakfasting should be preferred over large dinner meals to prevent obesity and high blood glucose peaks regardless of calorie intake. That is why salads are a staple breakfast food. However, certain vegetables can be harmful to you, or may not give you the most refreshing results if you consume them as your first meal.

Onions are a key ingredient in most recipes, especially in Indian cuisine. A staple vegetable in every household in India, onions are often included in most Indian breakfast dishes. However, its pungent and sharp taste can lead to digestive discomfort in the morning. Moreover, raw onions can leave a lingering aftertaste, giving you bad breath, which is not an ideal way to start your day.

Like onions, garlic also carries a strong, pungent flavour and can lead to unpleasant breath, making it less desirable for the morning meal. It can also cause stomach discomfort, just like onions, since it has a strong taste and produces heat in the body.

#3 Jalapeños or Spicy Peppers

The sharp peppery taste of radish may not be the most ideal palate choice for breakfast. Moreover, consuming radishes on an empty stomach can cause gas-related problems such as nausea, flatulence, indigestion, and headache.

#7 Cauliflower

Eating cauliflower on an empty stomach has to potential to cause irritable bowel syndrome. Although a great source of folate, vitamin K, and fibre, cauliflower is a cruciferous vegetable, just like broccoli, and is hard to digest first thing in the morning.

#8 Brinjal

Avoiding brinjals or eggplants is often advised for those who have a weak digestive system. So eating them on an empty stomach is not a great idea.
