As your weight increases, there are chances that your blood pressure may also increase. Losing just 4.5 kgs can help you reduce blood pressure dramatically. If you lose weight, the effect of medication can be seen to work more effectively. You can consult your doctor to determine the ideal weight.
Eat a diet which is rich in grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products. Maintain a food diary which contains your eating schedule. Eat foods which have more potassium. Choose fruits and vegetables over supplements.
If you reduce a little amount of sodium in your diet, it would result in reduction of blood pressure by 2 to 8 mm Hg. Limit your sodium to 2,300 milligrams in a day or less. Keep a track of the amount of salt you eat. Read all the food labels and make sure that you pick only low sodium alternatives.
