In times of a cut on the skin
Any inflammation on the skin can be a significant reason for a psoriasis flare-up. Just a mere scratch, insect bite or even excessive scratching can lead to scaling on skin. In such cases, the psoriasis lesions mostly show up at uncommon places. On average, the symptoms occur on scalp, knees and lower back, but in such cases, the signs can be visible at other body parts as well.

Stressful conditions
It is a known fact that psychological conditions can be a significant reason for a psoriasis flare-up. Skin infections and trauma are physical stressors and common triggers of psoriasis in people. Also, irregular sleep patterns, upset food habits and severe mood swings significantly add to the psoriasis symptoms in people. Drinking and smoking
As we all know, smoking and drinking drastically affect skin health. Also, mostly for stress reduction, people end up resorting to alcohol or tobacco. However, all this adds to psoriasis flare-up in people. Drinking in controlled portions may still not add to the symptoms. However, severe intoxication is terrible for psoriasis patients.

Reaction to a new medication
There are times when some medicines do not suit in the first place. Several medications add to the symptoms of psoriasis in people. In most cases, medications containing lithium do not go well with psoriasis patient and lead to scale-like appearances on skin. Medications containing lithium are primarily used for treating psychiatric cases, malaria, etc. Consult a doctor immediately if you think any medication is leading to psoriasis flare-up. Do not blindly stop eating any medicine. Take the help of a doctor.
