The situation in India
 
•    Cases of swine flu (H1N1 infection) have been reported form 30 States/ UTs. No cases have been reported from Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep, Sikkim and Tripura.
 
•    Majority of the cases (>94 % of all cases) have been reported from nine states - Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh. Maximum numbers of cases have been reported from Delhi (3915).
 
•    Majority of deaths (93% of all deaths) have been reported from 7states - Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala and Delhi. Maximum numbers of deaths have been reported from Maharashtra (214).
 
•    Of the confirmed cases ---99% of the cases were indigenous and just 1% were imported cases (i.e. reported in people with history of travel to affected countries).
