A new study has revealed that downing up to 5 cups of coffee lowers the risk of breast cancer in women. The research was conducted by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.
The research indicates that if women drink coffee daily they keep themselves safe from the most aggressive form of breast cancer called oestrogen-receptor negative breast cancer. This form of cancer can only be controlled with chemotherapy and is also known to have an adverse affect on many women around the globe.
The study was conducted on a sample of 6000 postmenopausal women. It indicates that caffeine effectively reduces the risk of oestrogen-receptor negative breast cancer.
Although it is good news that 5 cups of coffee lower breast cancer risk, the study has only found positive results in primarily postmenopausal women. It remains to be seen whether the same applies to women who have not yet hit menopause.
