From Winter To Summer: Skincare Routine Changes You Need To Make

As we are stepping from winter to summer, major changes are made. We leave those heavy woolens and embrace that light cotton. Warm beverages such as soups are replaced with cooling ones like juices and buttermilk. There is a major transition in lifestyle that happens as we transition from one season to the other. You must also change your skincare regime accordingly. There is a change in humidity level, sun exposure increases multiple times, the temperature shifts, all of which can have a major impact on your skin. Hence, you must switch your skincare routine such that it suits the coming season.

Skincare: Winter Vs Summer

During winters, to deal with the dry air, you opt for heavy moisturisers. You also prefer hydrating cleansers. These might not work during summers and can even backfire. Hence, here are some of the skincare transitions you must make as we are transitioning from winters to summers:

Cleanser

During winters, creamy face washes are generally preferred. However, during summers, we perspire a lot and there is excessive sebum secretion. Hence, during this season, you can opt for gel or foam-based cleansers. Again, skincare is personal and should depend on one’s skin type and needs. Hence, you can try multiple things to figure out what works for you. Another thing you can adopt during summers is double cleansing, in which you clean your face twice to get rid of impurities.

Moisturiser

After cleansing, the next step is moisturising. During winters, to lock in moisture, we generally opt for heavy moisturisers. It won’t work during summers, as you sweat a lot during this season, and the use of heavy creams might result in acne and pimples, as per a leading media house. Hence, you should switch to lighter lotions during summers. However, do note, it isn’t ideal to switch this step no matter what the temperature and humidity levels are.

Serums

The serum is another skincare product you can opt for this summer. These are water-based and do not feel oily on the skin. They also penetrate well into the skin, so help with nourishment. Again, you must opt for serums according to your skin type and needs.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen must be a part of your skincare regime in all seasons, but more so in summers when the exposure to sunlight is greater. Hence, apply good sunscreen as per your requirements. During summers, it is better to apply gel-based or matte sunscreen rather than moisturising one. A thing that you must note here is that as you sweat a lot during summers, the sunscreen might get washed off quickly. Hence, if you are out, apply it a few times.

Other than these, you must take good care of hydration. Hence, drink plenty of water, eat enough fruits and vegetables. Nutrition is also crucial here. What goes inside your stomach reflects on your skin. Hence, have a well-balanced diet. Rather than synthetic, wear light cotton clothes that suit the weather. Regarding makeup also, opt for water or gel-based one that works well in this season.
