Quick Bites

  • Put away cookies and other snacks.
  • If you don’t have a fruit bowl, buy one.
  • Confine all eating to the kitchen.

Now that you are trying to get in shape by shedding extra pounds off, you need to make a few changes in your current lifestyle to get to that. Besides right pair of foods and exercises, a little makeover in the kitchen can make a big difference.

Here's how you can rearrange your kitchen to make living healthier.

Counter cleaning

If there is food on the counter, it will be inviting. Not all foods are healthy when you are trying to slim down. Put away all the snacks and cookies. Clean your counters before they sabotage your weight loss efforts.

Get a fruit bowl

If you don’t have a fruit bowl, buy one. You should keep fruits and vegetables in front of your eyes. Put apples, oranges and bananas in the bowl to keep yourselves equipped with a healthful eatable when you are hungry.

Eat in the kitchen

When you eat in front of the television, you end up eating more. It is an excellent idea to confine all eating to the kitchen so that you are sure how much you are eating.

Buy see-through jars

No matter how much you try to resist snacking, it will happen. One good idea is to keep fruits and vegetables that need prep and cutting ready in advance. When they are stored in see-through jars, you will reach out for them instead of other snacks when you are hungry between meals.

Keep all large plates and bowls away

How we decide what to eat and how to eat depends on the plate and portion size. Portion control is one of the requisites of any weight loss approach. Whenever you have to eat, serve your food in small plate/bowls. When large plates or bowls are in reach, you might serve accordingly and may not be able to portion control.

Make healthy weight checklist

Make a healthy weight checklist and stick it on your refrigerator. It will keep reminding you of what you need to do and what you shouldn't. It should have healthy foods and eating tips listed and should also have the reasons why you want to lose weight.

So, get to arrange your kitchen right away and within a week you would have moved to a healthy lifestyle.
