Skin problem has a new cure, and the cure may be a tad bit different from the rest. Scientists at University of Sheffield have found out that skin diseases can be treated with the help of psychotherapy. The techniques used were relaxation sessions, meditation and cognitive behavior therapy and these methods helped people with psoriasis, eczema, acne and the pigment disorder vitiligo.
The 22 tests carried out on 900 participants found that the physical symptoms can also be taken care of beside the erstwhile belief that it could only have an emotional impact. It showed that the psychological therapies could help patients deal with their itching and scratching.
However it was also found that as the patient grew older, the psychological intervention on them grew less effective.
