Make your skin summer-friendly with these 5 tips

It goes without saying that the scorching summer heat can take a toll on your skin. This is why you need to be extra cautious about keeping your skin safe from summer's heat. Besides sun damage, some major skin problems that can occur due to over-exposure to the sun include coarse wrinkles, benign tumours, age spots and discoloured areas of the skin called mottled pigmentation.
The season might not seem right to moisturise, but you need to use a gentle moisturising lotion. If you don’t, the skin may become sticky and grimy. This is also important as dry heat and low humidity can dry out the skin. Don’t forget to moisturise feet, elbows, knees and knuckles.
Wear Sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more
Using sunscreen becomes necessary for the hot summer months. Make it a habit to apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more 30 minutes before you step out of the house. If not sure of the effectiveness, ask your doctor to suggest a suitable sunscreen based on your lifestyle and skin type. Moreover, a broad-brimmed hat, an umbrella, full-sleeved clothes and a sunglass can be used.
Cleansing and Toning
It is advised to cleanse twice a day using a gentle cleanser and lukewarm or cold water in summer. You can also use milk for cleansing. Using a toner is equally important. Use a toner at least once a day.
Eat Plenty of Fruits and Vegetables
You must stock up coloured fruits and vegetables in summer. A rich dose of antioxidants help to reverse the oxidative damage that high UV exposure inflicts.
Following a healthy lifestyle is ever important, irrespective of the conditions. It must comprise adequate physical activity and rest. These two boost the oxygen supply to the skin and help the skin recover. Among other important things that you should do are exfoliating the skin using a gentle scrub twice a week and drinking a minimum of two litres a day.
