Gained Weight This Winter? Here Are 5 Lifestyle Changes To Lose It

3rd Edition of HealthCare Heroes Awards 2023

It's been long recommended that if you want to lose weight, you must start dieting in the summer. It's no surprise, given the various studies that show summers are ideal for losing weight because you tend to drink more water and sweat more.

Gaining weight during the winter, on the other hand, is quite common. As the winter season brings finger-licking dishes and the laziness that comes with it, you may feel compelled to stay curled up in bed all day. So, if you've tried everything to lose the winter weight, here are five lifestyle changes you can make to shed those extra pounds.

1 Eat Smaller Portions

It is often not the food that causes us to gain weight, but the quantity of food that increases our calorie intake. You could eat clean all day – load up on oats for breakfast, chicken for lunch, and soup for dinner – but all of it would be useless in helping shed weight if you exceeded your calorie limit. Remember that the key to losing weight is not just eating healthily but eating smaller portions as well. Eating in small portions every two to three hours boosts metabolism and aids in the fight against cravings.

2 Move More

The key to losing weight is maintaining a calorie deficit, which can be accomplished by eating less or moving more. Moreover, combining eating less with exercise can double the rate of weight loss. Additionally, you are not required to dedicate two hours of workout time; working out for 30 minutes is sufficient. The best thing you can do is start your day with a walk or workout on an empty stomach. Working out on an empty stomach helps you burn stubborn fat and sets the tone for the rest of your day.

3 Binge On Fresh Fruits & Veggies

Fresh fruits and vegetables are recommended for weight loss not because they are low in calories but because the body easily absorbs them. To lose weight, a person needs both macro and micronutrients, and fruits contain all the vitamins and minerals required by the human body. The best thing about eating fresh fruits and vegetables is that they contain a lot of fibre, which keeps you full for longer and cleans your system.

4 Drink Water Every Two Hours

Staying hydrated is one of the most important ways to prevent unhealthy weight gain. We tend to forget to drink water, especially during the winter. We're not as thirsty as we are during the summer. That being said, remember to drink plenty of water. This not only keeps you hydrated, but it also keeps you away from unhealthy cravings.

5 Start Food Logging

Calorie control is critical for losing weight and avoiding weight gain. This can be accomplished by using a calorie counter app. Calorie counter apps not only provide you with the number of calories, nutrients, and minerals you have consumed. But also suggest a healthy alternative that you can consume. In addition, these apps allow you to track your sleep and water intake.
