As India's COVID-19 tally crosses 1,000, Kerala leads with the highest number of cases, followed by Maharashtra and Delhi. As of May 26, 2025, Kerala has an active caseload of 430 infections. Kerala Reports Highest Number Of Active COVID Cases
According to data uploaded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Kerala has the highest number of active cases at 430, followed by Maharashtra with 209, Delhi with 104, and Karnataka with 47.
Since May 19, Kerala has reported 335 new COVID-19 infections, recording a substantial increase in the number of COVID cases.
During the same period, 105 patients have recovered and been discharged, also marking the highest number of recoveries among all states.

According to the data shared by the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), a single case of NB.1.8.1 as well as four infections of LF.7 have been reported in India. NB.1.8.1 is a SARS-CoV-2 variant derived from the recombinant variant XDV.1.5.1.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 as "Variant Under Monitoring" (VUM). This means they’re being closely tracked but aren’t currently considered a "Variant of Interest" or "Variant of Concern".
