The veteran actor breathed his last at the MR Bangur Super Speciality Hospital in Kolkata after a tough fight with illness. According to recent updates, he had been undergoing treatment in Kolkata after suffering from typhoid along with multiple age-related complications.

As per recent news reports, Kalyan Chatterjee had been hospitalised due to typhoid, a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi, which spreads through contaminated food or water. While typhoid is treatable, it can become dangerous for older adults. Typhoid took a heavy toll on Kalyan, hitting hard alongside his age-related issues. 

He had been bedridden for a while. Family sources say these health woes kept him from acting in recent years. The hospital treated him for the infection and other complications tied to old age. 

People above 65 often have a weaker immune system, which makes fighting infections harder. According to the CDC, complications like dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, delirium, and organ stress can occur more quickly in elderly patients.
