Though these tools are good indicators but a healthy weight is not only about numbers, it is more about a healthy lifestyle – eating healthy and effective exercise regimen.   Usually being overweight is the result of overeating but in some cases it might be a symptom of another medical problem ranging from hypothyroidism, Cushing’s syndrome, prescription drug use, essential fatty acid deficiency, organ disease, blood sugar imbalance and stress.   If you are overweight, losing the excess baggage will do a big favour to your health and life expectancy. Overweight people are prone to having heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cholesterol, angina, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, some kinds of cancer. Just losing 10 percent of your current weight can make you feel the difference as improvement can be seen in functioning of the heart, blood pressure and cholesterol.
