The chakras are the spiritual energy centers located in our body with each chakra associated with a certain set of organs and emotions. There are 7 chakras in a person’s body which can collectively influence the well being and overall health. The connection between the chakras and health makes it important for you to know how to open your chakras.
The chakras are opened with the help of certain position of the hands called the mudras and sounds that are enchanted while opening the chakras to enhance the effect. While it may time and patience to understand the chakras and the process, proper technique can help you understand how to open your 7 chakras.
Following are the guidelines on how to open the chakras for beginners:
The root chakra is located at the base of the spine and is associated with the emotion of trust. The red chakra forms the foundation of the human energy system and controls the need of safety and the ability to trust. An open root chakra helps your trust your partner and can be very helpful in developing a healthy relationships. To open the chakra make the tips of your thumb and index finger touch. Concentrate on the base of the spine and chant the sound of ‘LAM’.
This chakra is located right above the root chakra and below the belly button. The orange coloured chakra governs the sex organs and the sexuality of a person. Forgive yourself and your partner to clear the sacral chakra. To open the sacral chakra put your hands one over another in your lap and chant the sound of ‘VAM’.
Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus, also known as the navel chakra, is located right above the belly button and below the sternum. The yellow coloured chakra is associated with the stomach and governs the vitality and selflessness. To open the chakra put your hands near your navel, pointing away from your and let the fingers tops from both hands join all pointing away from you. Now cross the thumbs and chant the sound of ‘RAM’ while concentrating on the navel.
The Heart Chakra
The green coloured heart chakra is associated with your heart and emotions like love and care. It is located right over your breastbone and controls the ability to passionately love someone. To open your heart chakra let the tips of your index finger and thumb touch and put the left hand on the left knee and the right hand in front of the heart and chant the sound of ‘YAM’.
The blue coloured throat chakra is located above the heart chakra right over the throat so that it can govern your self-expression, esteem and communication. To open the chakra, intertwine the fingers from both hands on the inside. Now let the thumbs touch at the tops forming a big ‘O’ with both the palms. Now concentrate on the throat chakra and chant the sound of ‘HAM’.
Third Eye Chakra
The indigo coloured chakra is located right above the eyes and controls your wisdom and intuition. To open the chakra put your hands close to your chest such that the middle fingers are straight and touch at the top. The other fingers are bent inwards and touch the consecutive fingers on the other hand on the outside at the upper two phalanges. The thumbs also touch at the top pointing towards you. Now concentrate on your third eye chakra and chant the sound ‘OM’.
The white coloured chakra is located at the top of your head and controls your spirituality and ability to connect with something. To open the chakra put your hands in front of the stomach such that the ring fingers are stretched out and touch at the tips. Cross the rest of your fingers, with the left thumb underneath the right. Now concentrate at the top of your head and chant the sound ‘NG’.
