Tips To Keep Yourself Fit Post Festivities

Diwali is a festival of lights, fireworks, and sweets that is celebrated across the country and worldwide. A vacation wherein you indulge in all the festive delicacies and just enjoy a relaxing time. All those guilty pleasures of filling ourselves up with sweets and traditional dishes without a thought of how it will affect our diet, health, and fitness are common things that we overlook. OnlyMyHealth editorial team spoke to Deepti Sharma- Director- MultiFit, to suggest some tips to keep yourself fit after festivities.

How to keep yourself fit post festivities?

Some like to get back on track after their week-long cheat period, and some are afraid that their long-term progress might get reset due to these few days of indulgence. And then there are a few who are motivated to start after this period of binge eating. Nonetheless, it is important to keep your health in check during and post-festivities. Here are some ways you can start a fitness journey and leave the guilt behind:

1. Simple, short-term goals towards your routine

It is the most important and motivating step to set out short-term goals that can be easily achieved. Completing these goals every day can help you feel that you are not lagging in your routine and can help you keep up with your plans to slowly get back to your routine.

2. Simple activities

Partaking in simple activities can also count as exercise. Doing house chores, walking to the store to buy groceries, or even just simple cardio can keep your body in tone and actively help with your routine. Even the most basic tasks can be incorporated into your routine as a form of exercise. This will be a win-win situation as you get to exercise and help out during and after the festivities.

3. Avoiding sugar

Swapping sugar for jaggery or honey, milk chocolate for dark chocolate, and even fried food for roasted food can make a difference in your overall diet. Avoiding these products and processed foods can help improve the blood and body significantly.

4. Drinking water

Water is the source of life. It is crucial to always be hydrated. Drinking water can help get rid of extra nutrients, keep your blood filtration going, and also make you feel full, so you don’t end up overeating.

5. Sleep

Sleep is a must. All the work during the festivities and returning back to work after the festivities can affect our sleep cycles and thus cause us to lose out on a lot of things, like proper metabolism and relaxation for the mind and body. A good night's sleep can always help a person relax both mentally and physically. It is as important as one's diet and workout.

The festivities have left behind happiness, with some guilt. Start slow and gradually get into a routine suitable for you, and work your way up the ladder of progress. Don’t be guilty of what you eat; instead, make up your mind to compete.
