Mascara is the easiest way to draw attention to your eyes and don a fun, flirty look. When you want your eyes to stand out, all you need to do is to add mascara which not only makes your lashes look darker, but also adds length and thickness to them.
Without great looking lashes, nobody will notice how your eyeshadow looks or what great techniques you have used. And women, who do use it but wrongly, end up getting clumps in their eyelashes from too much of the product. You don’t want to be one of those ladies who don’t know how to apply mascara perfectly and show up at the party with racoon eyes. We will help you with some great tips on how to apply mascara and practise is in your hands.
With cosmetic shop aisles flooded with so many mascara varieties, many women may develop a love-hate relationship with mascara shopping. The best way to apply mascara starts with picking the right option from the lot. Here’s how you can do it:
Formula- Don’t go crazy thinking if you should get a “lengthening, curling, thickening or voluminizing” mascara. If you want longer lashes go for a good lengthening mascara, fuller lashes need volume, and some mascaras promise to do both. Simple!
Waterproof- If you wear mascara whole day, pick an option that is waterproof. It also works wonders under sun and sweating. It also helps to maintain any curl you put into your lashes by an eyelash curler.
Colour- This one is no rocket science. Black mascara opens the eyes and gives the lashes a fuller effect. Although you can pick from many different shades, black will give the best outcome for a set of full, thick lashes that everyone will envy.
So now that you have chosen the correct mascara, let’s set to practise the best way to apply mascara for bigger, glamorous eyes that can set the world on fire.
It’s not a good idea to pump the wand in and out of the bottle because this pushes air into the tube which can dry the mascara out faster causing clumps and flakes. You should instead gently twist it back and forth in circular motions to pick the desired amount of mascara.
When you want your lashes curled, begin by pressing the lash curler together at their root and holding for about 10 seconds; but be careful to not touch the skin of the eyes. Now, move the curler out to the end of your lashes and repeat. This step however is optional but it does make for longer looking lashes and opens the eye.
Scrap off any excess mascara from the wand when you take it out of the bottle. This will ensure that no clumps get applied on your lashes. You can start applying mascara with your top or bottom lashes. Though beginning with the bottom lashes will prevent those tiny dots that appear on your eyelids when you look down to apply mascara to your bottom lashes.
To apply mascara on your top lashes, look straight forward, and place the wand at the base of your lashes. Using a back-and-forth motion while moving the wand up your lashes and sweep upward, this will help give your lashes a curled effect. You will have to repeat this motion with 2-3 coats to achieve the perfectly curled effect. When it comes to the bottom lashes, tilt your head forward slightly to keep from getting mascara onto your cheek. Use the same side to side motions until you get a good coat of mascara on your lower lashes.
The trick to prevent your mascara from falling over your cheeks is to use a small business card, credit card or small piece of paper and hold it over the area while applying the mascara. You can also apply a thin coat of eyeliner on your upper waterline to make your eyelashes look even more thicker.
Now that thicker and fuller lashes are just a few strokes away, what are you waiting for? Glam up those peepers and make the world go crazy.
