Remember Jim Halpert from the sitcom “The Office”? The charismatic sales executive working at “Dunder Mifflin”, whose boss Michael Scott once remarked, “You are 6’11, and you weigh 90 pounds, Gumby has a better body than you, boom, roasted!” Well, the tables have indeed turned, John Krasinski who is widely known for playing Jim Halpert has recently been named 2024’s sexiest man alive by People’s Magazine. 

The 45 year old actor started off anew just like a lot of individuals out there, he however stayed consistent and achieved the level of fitness he aimed for. On Jimmy Kimmel’s live, Krasinski revealed having started off with a body fat of 26% and by the time he starred in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan TV Series, for which he had to attain a desired physique, his  body fat was down to 9%, and he did all of this within 3 months.

How Did Krasinski Do It?

In the same conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, upon being asked what his regimen or workout routine was, the actor said, “Basically eating salads, chicken and water– and working out 5-6 days a week, twice a day, with my trainer Jason Walsh.” He credited his trainer with helping him and then went on to add that the rigorousness of the routine made him feel like he was having a heart attack.

To stay in top shape, Krasinski now works with London-based trainer Simon Waterson. Krasinski’s routine includes five days a week of intense physical conditioning, reserving the weekends for active recovery, such as yoga or physiotherapy, to help his body rest and rebuild. Here’s how you can align your workout routine with that of the actors’.

Alternate Between A Day Of Push-Pull Moves 

  • Start with pull-ups, bench presses and rows.
  • Coupled with a leg day inclusive of squats, deadlifts, and lunges.

Solidify Your One Rep Max

To track your strength, figure out the heaviest weight you can lift for one full repetition on exercises like the bench press and deadlift, says Waterson.

Train Hard Enough to Lift 80% of Your Max

Train with enough intensity so that you can lift 80% of your one-rep max, even on days when you're not feeling at your best.

Track Fitness with Bodyweight Exercises

You can also measure your fitness through bodyweight exercises. Waterson suggests setting a goal for a consistent number of pull-ups, dips, and push-ups.
