It so happens many times when you aimlessly keep filling your coffee mugs during work hours without thinking much about its effects on the body. Lack of sleep, boredom and lots of work: every solution leads to coffee. Caffeine has become an essential part of our everyday lives right from waking up to unwinding after a long day at work. As per a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, more than six cups of coffee per day adds to the chances of heart diseases by 22%. As a part of the study, health records and diet of 347,077 participants were analysed by the University of South Australia. The participants were between the ages of 36-73. As per the study, CYP1A2 is the type of gene variant, which helps in faster absorption of caffeine in the body. The 22% population in the study were more susceptible to cardiovascular diseases than those with less intake of caffeine. The conclusion of this study was its association with independent genetics.

Caffeine and Cardiovascular Diseases
According to the World Health Organization, heart diseases lead to the most amount of deaths across the globe and is equally preventable if proper care is given. Following are a few conditions that one can encounter due to excess of caffeine intake:

Irregular caffeine drinks are more prone to its negative effects as compared to the regular coffee drinkers.

Too Much Is Never Good
As we all say, excess of anything can be harmful. Be it any reason, excess of caffeine intake can lead to several medical problems. Cutting on your caffeine intake can be crucial for many, but it is certainly not impossible. Following are a few ways through which caffeine intake can be reduced:
- Know your intake: Start noting down how many cups of coffee you drink in a day. Also, keep a tab on the amount of caffeine you are getting from beverages and food options. Make sure that you read each food label carefully for complete information.
- Reduce intake slowly: Do not cut down on your coffee intake suddenly. Depriving your body of something you love can lead to several conditions like sleeplessness, insomnia, body tremors, etc.
- Opt for decaf: If cutting down on coffee is almost an impossible task for you, opt for decaf over regular coffee. Most of the decaffeinated coffees look and taste the same.
- Brew for a lesser time: Less time in the brewing of tea reduces the caffeine content.
