Healthy Recipes: Dal Gujarati

Gujarat delicacies are known to be healthy and extremely light on stomach. If you are looking forward to a healthy lunch then, this is perfect for your diet!


Key Ingredients: ¼ teaspoon of curry powder, 1 whole garlic clove (peeled), 6 ½ cups of water, pinch of asafoetida, 1 ¾ cup of green grams (soaked in water overnight), ½ teaspoon of refined oil, ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, ½ teaspoon of mustard seeds, ½ teaspoon of cinnamon (crushed), 1 capsicum (chopped), 1 ½ teaspoon of brown rice syrup, 1 ½ teaspoon of lemon extract, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder


Sauté the mustard seeds in oil. When it starts popping, add turmeric powder, green grams, asafoetida and the remaining ingredients and muddle well. Simmer and let it cook for another 30 minutes. Pour it into a bowl, garnish it with coriander leaves and serve! Have it with some steamed rice or roti.
