How many times have you had a craving for your favourite pizza and found yourself still hungry after eating the entire pizza? If yes then this article is for you.

Eating is considered a voluntary activity because we choose to eat when we are hungry or tired and require more energy. Hunger is your body's signal that it needs more food. But have you ever wondered why you feel hungry even after consuming 1,000 calories? That is because you are eating the wrong foods at the wrong times. So, if you struggle with constant hunger or want to break your habit of overeating, let us begin by understanding the true cause of after-meal hunger and how to avoid it.

Why Do You Feel Hungry After Eating?

There are numerous factors that contribute to you feeling hungry even after eating.

Eating Too Fast

When you eat too quickly, your brain doesn't recognise that you've eaten anything and it begins craving food. Set a timer and try to eat as slowly as possible the next time you go out to eat, and you will notice that you are full in half the portion.

Overtraining

When you overtrain, your body enters a catabolic state, and in order to recover, your body requires and craves food. So, if you're sleeping with a full stomach and waking up hungry in the middle of the night, you're probably overtraining.

Not Eating A Balanced Food

A well-balanced diet includes all macro and micronutrients. One of the most common reasons for feeling hungry after eating is a lack of nutrients, minerals, and fibre in your diet.

You Are Trying Something New

When we eat foods that are new to our bodies, our bodies have a difficult time absorbing nutrients. It is recommended that when introducing a new food, start with a small amount and gradually increase it.

Here's How To Avoid After Eating Hunger

1) Add Protein

Protein is an essential macronutrient that aids in weight loss, recovery, and satiety. Protein can help one feel fuller for longer. It is recommended that you consume protein twice the gram of your body weight for the best results.

2) Consume Veggies

Veggies are high in fibre and aid in satiety. Consuming vegetables is also important because they are high in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which the human body requires on a daily basis. The only thing to remember is to consume the majority of your vegetables during the day for better nutrient absorption.

3) Stay Hydration

Dehydration is frequently the cause of frequent hunger and overeating. Hydration not only aids in the removal of toxins, but also in the absorption of nutrients. So start your day with a glass of water and make it a habit to drink water every two hours.
