The time coronavirus pandemic has moved, things are changing, and people are gradually transforming into a new lifestyle that focuses more on safety and hygiene. Now It is mandatory to wear protective masks, gloves and carry a sanitiser. People who need to go out for essential purposes, i.e. to shop for household needs, attend their offices or who are at the frontline of the pandemic, for them it is indispensable to take all possible precautions to curb the spread of COVID19. It will take some time to adjust and wear face masks. Those who have to wear face masks may experience other challenges, such as trouble in breathing, skin irritation, sweating, and feel trapped. But we all know that for our safety, wearing a mask is mandatory.

Also, wearing a mask for a long time can also lead to various skin injuries, some of them include:

Perioral dermatitis: If vapour, saliva, sweat, moisture gets stuck between the mask and the skin. It can lead to irritant dermatitis, which causes rashes, redness, scaling near the nose areas.

Change in the skin pigment: Excess rashes, repetitive friction and dry skin, and can change Skin pigment.

Itchy rashes: Excess sweat or dryness can cause itchy rashes which is a type of contact irritant dermatitis.

Sore nose, and soreness behind ears: Wearing a mask for a long time cause elastic pressure leading to soreness. 

Hives: This skin problem leads to red, bumpy, stingy pain in the skin. Also, in worse cases, these bumps can get puss. 

Breathlessness: This season is such that wearing a mask can lead to breathlessness in no time. Also, those with asthma and other chronic respiratory infections should wear masks with caution. Also, never try to exercise wearing a mask. 

And all these issues can be taken care of by following these simple and healthy tips:

  • You should drink lots of water and hydrate yourself to prevent acne and dryness of the skin.
  • Intake of fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Highly resist any kind of face packs or chemicals if you possess rash on your skin.
  • Wash your face at regular time spans especially If you have oily skin.
  • If you have to wear mask constantly then massage your face with a good replenishing moisturiser at bedtime.
  • You should apply moisturising body soaps and face washes.

SOME NOTABLE TIPS FOR SKIN FOR WEARING A FACE MASK EVERYDAY FOR SAFETY:

  • Use anti-fungal dusting powders to prevent fungal infections in sweaty, moist regions.
  • If you are suffering from a continuous burning sensation, then you should instantly consult a skin specialist.
  • Regularly Wash and moisten your ear lobes.
  • Wear the mask of your own size perfectly fitted. If your ear lobes are being forcefully folded, then it’s not the right size.
  • Avoid touching your face because it can not only spread the disease, but it can also disperse germs that can result in skin infections.
