Yoga helps in relieving stress as the yogic postures provide core strength. Core strength could reduce the risk of cardiovascular disorder. It lowers the production of stress hormones, i.e. cortisol levels in the body and alleviates self-confidence. According to a study by the US based National Institute of Health, brisk walking could reduce conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, cholesterol and type-2 diabetes. Walking releases tension from major muscle groups and deepens breathing. It also makes your nervous response better.
Gardening is a kind of low-impact workout which could relieve your daily stress. This activity could alone burn around 200 calories in half an hour. Gardening has been scientifically proven to have stress busting benefits. Apart from relieving stress, it also makes your environment greener and gives you fresh air.
Grooving to the music has both physical, emotional and mental health benefits. It provides agility to the person and increases heart rate. Increased heart rate is linked to lower levels of stress. Dancing can reduce the risk of dementia. Dancing also gives you happiness that eliminates stress.
5. Circuit Training
This is an alternative for weight training. It has a mixture of cardio exercises along with some short breaks in between. Circuit training comes under high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout regime. This makes the person sweat and pumps his body’s endomorphin levels. It is able to tackle your stress effectively.
6. Tai Chi
Also known as “Meditation in Motion”, Tai Chi is a form of Chinese martial arts, which links physical movement to mental stress. It helps in channeling your energies from everyday worries to focussed thinking. Tai Chi gives you a clarity of thought and builds self-confidence.
