Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka has seen a concerning rise in dengue cases, with over 200 reported in less than six months. The district health department is urging residents to be cautious and take preventive measures.
Dr Thimmaiah HR, the District Health Officer shared during a public interaction programme that as the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue, bites during the day, office workers and students are particularly at risk.
He explained that while complications due to dengue are rare, affecting only about 5% of patients, dengue fever can cause a decrease in platelet count, which can seriously harm your health.
