Deepika Padukone’s Complicated Pregnancy and Delivery

Deepika Padukone, who welcomed her daughter Dua with her husband Ranveer Singh in September 2024, shared that her pregnancy was far from easy. “I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant and delivery,” she said in an interview. She described her final trimester as especially tough, with pain in many parts of her body. “Suddenly you're discovering body parts because they hurt. But that rib pain was, oh my God,” she recalled.

Despite the discomfort, Deepika continued to practice yoga almost daily, focusing on strength, endurance, and stamina. Her trainer, Anshuka Parwani, praised her dedication, saying, “With the kind of awareness Deepika has, through the pregnancy, it’s been a breeze because we were working out almost every other day. During her last trimester, we worked out almost every day.”

Deepika’s words about holding her baby for the first time are touching and relatable. “I think what was more important for us was to first hold the baby in our arms, allow her to sort of see this new world she's come into, allow her personality to start developing a little bit... It felt like a beautiful summary of what she means to us and why she means what she means to us,” she said. This moment of connection, after months of struggle, was a turning point for Deepika and her family.

Deepika also spoke about the emotional toll. She admitted that the last two months were the hardest, with pain in her back and ribs, and delivery complications. She said, “I do have to tell myself that your life doesn’t end the minute you have a child and that you do need to get back to your life, or at least a part of your life before you had a baby…but every moment where I’m not able to be with her, there is guilt.”

Since becoming a mother, Deepika has focused on spending time with her daughter and adjusting to her new routine. She is not in a hurry to get back to her old self or her pre-baby body. Instead, she is slowly finding her strength again through swimming, Pilates, and functional training. She is also preparing to return to work, but for now, she is enjoying every moment with Dua. The 39 years old actress says, “I've been okay so far...Everyone around me has been really kind and nice enough to sort of check on me...I've been very lucky to also have that support system that's more than happy and willing to step in whenever I need it.”
