In cryotherapy treatment, one has to stand in a closed chamber that covers the whole body but your head. For around 5 minutes, the air in the chamber is brought down to temperatures 200°F to 300°F. Here are the main side effects of cryotherapy:

1. Numbness or tingling

The most common side effects of cryotherapy are numbness and tingling. Usually, the numbness is temporary, but if it persists and does not resolve in 24 hours, then it is best to talk to a doctor or the expert who performed the therapy. There are chances of nerve numbness because of freezing temperatures.

2. Pain

According to experts, cryotherapy can reduce swelling but sometimes, the extremely cold temperatures can cause temporary and slight pain. Mostly, the doctor prescribed a pain reliever before starting the procedure itself.

3. Redness and irritation

Patients might also have redness, irritation and swelling in the area of this procedure. This usually happens after getting cryotherapy for treating a skin condition. If the redness does not go away in a few hours, you can talk to your doctor in such cases.

4. Burns and blisters
