Cons of getting a weight loss procedure done

Weight loss surgery has many benefits but it is not without problems if you’re not careful about your diet:

Side effects if you’re not a vigilant eater

If you do not pay attention to what you eat after the surgery there can be several problems. The capacity of your stomach is reduced significantly. So, if you eat more than your stomach capacity you may have vomiting. If you drink soda or other sugary beverages you may have sweating, nausea, cramps, and diarrhea.

This is because the drink goes directly to your intestine and the small bowel cannot tolerate having fluid with a lot of sugar dumped right into it.

Risk of nutritional deficiency

The risk of calcium and iron deficiency increases. Your doctor will recommend vitamins, calcium, and iron supplements.

Risk of substance abuse

If you’ve been abusing food there is a risk that you may instead start abusing alcohol or drugs after the surgery.
