Humans have a 24-hour sleep-wake cycle. It’s called circadian rhythm and it affects our metabolism, immune system, and basically helps us perform all our activities. It's important to note that not only good sleep but our eating habits play a very important role in this clock.

How do our eating habits affect our body and blood sugar?

Be conscious about skipping meals: Nowadays half of our caloric intake happens after 6 pm. This delay affects your circadian rhythm and can lead you to skip meals, which can make you feel drained and exhausted.

It slows down your metabolism, affects your ability to produce enzymes, and leads to the accumulation of fat in your body, and drastically affects your blood sugar levels.

In medical terms, such eating habits can lead to the worsening of glycemic control. It can alter the genes, hampering the biological clock thus increasing blood sugar levels. It also leads to reduced glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, thus increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Maintaining your sugar levels is very important for your health and prevents any serious health issues.

Chrono nutrition is ensuring that your metabolism is in-sync with the circadian clock by sticking to proper meal timings.

Make sure that your diet doesn’t just consist of carbs ( combine it with proteins, fibre, etc). Consume a good amount of fibre, reduce the consumption of hidden sugars, and most importantly have good quality and quantity of food at the same time every day. This can help you in maintaining a good blood sugar level. It is ideal to have your breakfast an hour after waking up and dinner three hours before going to bed.
