The scorching sun is the worst enemy of a glowing complexion, this humble ingredient might just be the perfect remedy for the much dreaded sun tan. There are different ways in which it can be used as a method for tan removal
On its own

Coconut oil can be used just on its own to combat skin darkening. Take a few drops of the oil and massage it on your face and neck in circular motion every day. After gently massaging the skin for 10-15 minutes, use a facecloth or towel dipped in warm water to wipe the excess oil from your skin. It will leave you with a glowing complexion with an improved skin texture.

Mixed with licorice extract

Licorice root has long been used in traditional medicine for its amazing health benefits. Another property of licorice exploited by the skin lightening industry is its ability to help remove sun tan and protect skin from further tanning.

Mixing only a drop or two of licorice extract with coconut oil and massaging it on your face and body will help you get rid of that sun tan in no time.

Mixed with essential oils

Coconut oil is a natural sunscreen, however it has a SPF of only 4-5, which is not too high to protect you from the harsh summer sun. The solution is to mix coconut oil with other essential oils which have a higher SPF, such as carrot seed oil or raspberry seed oil. This mixture can be applied on the exposed areas before going out in the sun to help you protect your skin from tanning.

Tan removal scrub

Make a luxurious homemade scrub which helps remove dead skin and effectively diminishes sun tan. In two tablespoons of coconut oil, add 1.5 tablespoons brown sugar and almonds ground to the consistency of your liking. Use this scrub once or twice a week as an effective anti-tan measure.

Relief from sun-burn

Coconut oil can also be used to provide a soothing relief from sun burns and help speed up the recovery of the affected areas.
