According to WHO’s fact sheet, about 100 million people in the world have been forced into poverty because they have to pay for health care. 12 % of the world’s population spends about ten percent of their household budgets on health care. In the wake of all these struggles, all UN Member States and the World Health Organization wants to see 1 billion more people to receive all healthcare services by 2023.

The theme for World Health Day 2018 is ‘Universal Health Coverage: everyone, everywhere’. On this day, “WHO is calling on world leaders to live up to the pledges they made when they agreed on the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, and commit to concrete steps to advance #HealthforAll. This means ensuring that everyone, everywhere can access essential quality health services without facing financial hardship.”
