Does your refrigerator have an unidentifiable lousy smell? Could be the leftovers or electrical failure. When the food stays on the fridge for a long time, it produces terrible odour. Before looking at the home remedies, dispel the stink by following these methods.

  • The first and foremost step is to clean your refrigerator. The typically unpleasant odours come from the food that has been spoiled or rotten. Remove any food that has been rotten and keep the other remaining food in a cooler.
  • Protect the food that can generate a powerful aroma such as strong cheeses, sauces, and leftover foods. Wrap them in a cling film or aluminium foil. Keep the leftover food in a glass container. This will ensure that other foods in the fridge also don’t acquire the unpleasant smell. If the unpleasant odour isn’t eliminated, You need to check the motor of the refrigerator.
  • Ensure that maximum circulation is happening in your refrigerator and the ice is defrosted to avoid the bad smell getting trapped inside the ice. Clean the shelves and surfaces every week. Make sure the temperature is correct as it can encourage microbial growth and quicken the deterioration of the food if it’s too warm inside. This is one of the reasons why there is a foul smell.
