How to Work 9 to 5 and Enjoy It

If you belong to the large population of those, who trudge into the office 9-5, 5 or 6 days a week, take a look at these suggestions to make your work interesting and less of a burden. That’s right, a 9-5 job can be made enjoyable.

Maintain Good Relationships with Colleagues

The biggest problem you have in an office environment is that you have no choice of the kind of people you work with. If you let the relationship with your colleagues sour, working in the same office can be a gas. Therefore, make sure that you work hard enough to maintain cordial relationships with your colleagues. To do so:

  • do not criticise others even when they deserve it
  • do not take criticism personally
  • avoid having arguments with loud people
  • avoid gossip.

Take Pride in your Work

Even if you happen to not like your company or work, you must try to do your job well. This will give you a lasting satisfaction and help you find meaning in working. If you let the feeling of “my work is substandard or there is no point in working so hard” sink in, you will only end up being dissatisfied for as long as you work.

Never Take your Work Home

The best part of a 9 to 5 job is that it sets you free by the end of the day. It is therefore, important that you make sure you finish the work in the office itself. Never take any work home; this includes checking the work, emails or even thinking about work. Keep work away from home.

Never Lunch at Desk

The work environment is always one of pressure. Make it a point to take breaks to give self some rest. If you get only little time off your work, make optimum use of lunch break. If you end up spending all your time at work, you may begin to feel claustrophobic. Try spending time in a good cafe or taking a stroll in the shady lanes nearby.

Spend Time doing Productive Work
