Correct Way to Brush your Teeth
Maintaining proper hygiene is an essential part of oral care. Cleaning your teeth and gums plays an effective role in overall dental hygiene. Therefore, you must always use a toothbrush with soft, nylon and rounded bristles. This will prevent irritation or damage to the gums.
You must place bristles along the gum line, making a 45-degree angle. The bristles of your toothbrush must come in contact with both tooth surface and gum line. Brush your teeth first, then the outer surface and finally the inner surface of each tooth.
Choosing the Right Paste and Toothbrush
Your toothbrush must have soft, nylon and rounded bristles. One of the most important things that dentists recommend is checking the bristles of toothbrushes before buying them. People with sensitive teeth and gums must always choose brushes with softer bristles.
Your toothpaste must always contain fluoride, which can prevent cavities. However, if you have children who are below six years of, you must avoid toothpaste with fluoride as children have a tendency to swallow it.
Start Oral Care Early
Dental care must be started as early on as possible. A lot of experts opine that parents must bring a baby to the clinic from the time its first tooth sprouts.
Rinse Mouth after Eating
If you don’t rinse your mouth after eating, food particles will stick between teeth and allow the bacteria to collect, causing bad breath. Food that accumulates between two teeth, on the tongue or around the gums can be cause for foul odour.
Fighting Bad Breath
Some foods like garlic and onions can cause bad breath. When the food gets absorbed into the bloodstream, it gets transferred to the lungs. Even flossing or brushing will not eliminate the foul smell completely. The odour lasts as long as the food remains stuck to its position inside the mouth. To avoid bad breath, one must stay away from odour-causing foods.
