Forty-seven-year-old Bollywood actor, Shreyas Talpade was rushed to the hospital in Mumbai on Thursday after experiencing a heart attack. The incident occurred after he reached back home after the day’s shoot of his upcoming project ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ and complained of uneasiness and subsequently collapsed. The actor underwent angioplasty soon after and is now reported to be stable.
Earlier this year, actor Sushmita Sen, 47, also suffered from cardiac arrest and needed an angioplasty which raises a few questions. One of the big questions is why people under 50 are being more prone to such sudden heart attacks.
Heart Attack Or Cardiac Arrest: What Is It?
Cardiac Arrest is a situation where the functioning of the heart comes to a halt suddenly and stops beating. It stops the blood flow to the brain and other vital organs. This sudden stop in the blood flow can lead to a person being unconscious, and if not treated immediately can take the form of disability and in the worst cases, death.
The terms cardiac arrest and heart attack are often used interchangeably, but they don’t necessarily mean the same. Heart attack is a circulation problem where the blood flow to the heart is blocked, while cardiac arrest refers to the situation where the heart malfunctions and suddenly stops beating.
