5 Ways To Utilise Guava For Better Skin

Guava is one of the most celebrated winter fruits. However, this tropical superfruit is more than just a delicious snack. Rich in vitamins A, C, and antioxidants, this nutrient-packed fruit offers a wide range of benefits for the skin. Whether you want to brighten your complexion, combat acne, or fight signs of ageing, guava can be a natural ally in your skincare routine.

We spoke to our expert Dr Aditi Wadhwa, Consultant, Department of Dermatology, Sharda Care - Health City and here are seven ways to harness the power of guava for glowing, healthy skin.

Ways To Use Guava To Make Your Skin Healthy

There are several ways to use guava to make your skin healthy. These may include:

1. DIY Guava Face Mask for Brightening

“Guava is a powerhouse of vitamin C, which helps lighten dark spots and even out skin tone,” Dr Wadhwa shared. To make a brightening face mask:

  • Mash one ripe guava into a smooth paste.
  • Mix with one tablespoon of honey and a few drops of lemon juice.
  • Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse with lukewarm water for instantly refreshed and radiant skin.

2. Guava Scrub For Exfoliation

The natural granules in guava seeds make an excellent exfoliator to remove dead skin cells leaving behind naturally glowing skin. Use this scrub once or twice a week to keep your skin free of impurities. To prepare a guava scrub at home you can:

  • Blend guava pulp with sugar or oatmeal.
  • Massage gently onto your face in circular motions.
  • Rinse thoroughly to reveal smooth and glowing skin.

3. Guava Toner For Tightening Pores

Our skin loses its elasticity with age, and due to environmental factors like dust and pollution. Guava’s astringent properties help tighten pores and tone the skin. This toner is particularly beneficial for oily or acne-prone skin and is suggested to be used after cleansing the face. The good news is that you can make yourself a guava toner at home. Here’s how:

  • Boil guava leaves in water for 10 minutes, then let the solution cool.
  • Strain and pour the liquid into a spray bottle.

4. Anti-Ageing Guava Serum

Packed with antioxidants like lycopene and vitamins, guava can help fight free radicals that cause premature ageing. Dr Wadhwa suggested blending guava pulp with aloe vera gel and a teaspoon of rosehip oil and applying a small amount to your face before bed. As the serum is absorbed in the skin overnight, it will help to repair and rejuvenate your skin.

5. Guava Juice For Skin Hydration

Drinking guava juice hydrates the skin from within and delivers essential nutrients to keep it supple and healthy. Preparing the juice is easy and hassle-free. Just blend fresh guava with water and a spoon of honey, strain to remove seeds if desired and enjoy a glass daily for a boost in skin vitality and hydration.

Bottomline

Guava is a versatile and natural ingredient that can elevate your skincare routine. Whether you use its pulp, seeds, or leaves, this fruit offers a range of benefits for every skin type. Incorporate guava into your beauty regimen to achieve radiant, youthful, and healthy skin the natural way. Let us know if it helped you here!
