Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey has recently shocked his fans with an update on his retirement. Taking it to Instagram, he shared a post saying he would meet his fans for ‘one last time’ in 2025. The decision to take a break from acting came after the release of the recent movie, The Sabarmati Report, which garnered a decent response from the box office and critics. However, the statement came as a family call for the 37-year-old actor. ‘The 12th Fail’ actor wrote that he wants to spend the rest of his time with his family.

While taking time for family and managing the work-life balance can be a tough call, below are some mental health tips for work-life balance.

Importance Of Work-Life Balance

Work-life balance is not just about splitting time between work and home. It’s about making sure your job and personal life fit together in a way that keeps you happy and your mental health in check. Professionals need to break down tasks in their daily routines to prioritise work and their mental health.

A proper work-life balance helps reduce stress, avoid burnout, and improve productivity. A good balance also strengthens relationships allowing professionals to enjoy life more fully. When you take the time to rest and pursue hobbies or spend time with loved ones, it can boost your mood and motivation. This balance is essential for long-term well-being and helps you feel more satisfied, both in your personal and professional life.

According to a study published in the Journal of Management and Financial Sciences, effective work-life balance strategies can improve worker health and productivity. It lowers the levels of stress and improves general health. Emphasising mental health improves employee productivity and enhances work-life balance. For employees, creating a positive work environment by supporting actions that improve morale benefits the entire team.

Expert Shares Mental Health Tips for Work-Life Balance

For working professionals, achieving a healthy work-life balance is crucial for maintaining mental health and overall well-being. In today's fast-paced work environment, as we strive to achieve goals and excel in our careers, it’s easy to overlook the importance of maintaining mental health.

According to Shaikh Uzma Jamal, Emotional Fitness and Transformation Coach (as per her LinkedIn), work-life balance isn’t about getting everything perfect; it’s about making small choices that help you feel more in control. She gave a few points on how working professionals can manage their mental health while managing work-life balance.

  • Create a 'Work’s Done' Ritual: Whether it’s shutting your laptop, stepping outside for fresh air, or brewing tea, do something that tells your brain, 'Work is over for today.'
  • Take a 3-Minute Pause: When everything feels like too much, stop for 3 minutes, take deep breaths, and ask yourself, 'What’s one small thing I can do right now?' It shifts your focus and keeps you moving.
  • Acknowledge Tough Days: If you’ve had a hard day, don’t brush it off. Tell yourself, 'Today was hard, and that’s okay. I’ll try again tomorrow.'
  • Start the Day Right: Begin your mornings with something that feels good—stretching, journaling, or just sitting quietly. It can completely change the vibe of your day.

Work-life balance isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about finding what makes you feel human again.
