Whether you are sporting a George Clooney style, a la Johnny Depp or our very own desi style beards, they do make a style statement. But is that it? Is your beard just a way to get women weak on their knees? No, it has been found that sporting a beard could have surprising benefits for you, things you never really had thought of.

Protection from Sun

Researchers have shown that by sporting a beard you can actually block up to 95 per cent of the sun’s UV rays. This can play a huge role in preventing basal cell carcinomas which is the common form of all cancers. Sun is also blamed for the ninety per cent of the visible aging signs and so beard could help save your face, however your head, or neck.

Natural Moisture

Your face actually has a mositurising regimen of its own, and it is called the oil glands or proper terms the sebaceous glands. The gland secrets a natural oil that keeps your skin moisturised, and so when you sport a thick beard you actually prevent this moisture to get rubbed off from your face. A beard would also protect your face from wind exposure which then leads to redness and dryness.

Trapped Allergens

Do you know that your nose hair is responsible for warding off external diseases that could harm your body? Nose hairs trap the pollutants, and so does your beard, and therefore the bigger the beard the better it is. Just be sure that you wash your beard regularly so that it remains clean and does not harbor the pollutants in it.

Blemish Free Skin

By sporting a beard you can steer clear of the hazards caused by a razor. Razor allergy, pimples, cuts and bruises happen to men who shave. If you have a beard then you are saved from such troubles and your skin will remain blemish free. Razors can annoy your skin and spread bacteria, thus resulting in hair follicle disease.

Fighting Cold

Now hair is also a natural insulator of your neck and throat region, and it raises the temperature of the area. This then fights off cold and chronic coughing. When you get a sore throat your body naturally starts to fight off the virus and thus having a beard can be of good help here.

Then of course you have the magnetic effect on women as beards can be a sign of masculinity and can make you more of a man.
