Most people take their skins for granted and wake up when it is too late and the skin has been damaged by pollution so much that it is irreversible.


With a little care and discipline you can protect your skin with natural pampering.  Just five minutes a day can make it radiate with youthfulness for many years to come. Major pollution problems arise from smoke, dust, grime and the Sun. All these have far reaching damaging effects on the skin but if you are careful and concerned about your skin regularly you can make it last longer.


Firstly the golden rule: Keep your skin clean at all times. If you use make-up at work and are not in the habit of removing it properly, be sure to start right away. Even if you do not use make-up whenever you come from outdoors have a dry skin massage with a little almond or sesame seed oil and wipe it clean with a wet cotton pad. You will be amazed to see the amount of dirt that is lifted from your skin!


Do not worry if you have oily skin for the best cleansing is done by fuller's earth soaked in rose water and to which you have added a tsp of powdered camphor. You come from outdoors and this fabulous natural cleanser will make your skin feel squeaky clean and also act as an antiseptic. The Sun plays an important role in damaging and drying the skin and although there is no natural sunscreen except oil, which for all practical reasons cannot be used on the skin especially if you have an oily skin, go for a good quality sunscreen. Wear sunglasses and a Sun hat if you are going to be out in the Sun for a long time and if you have an oily skin that is tanned, use sandalwood paste for natural de-tanning.


I have seen that most people are aware of  pollutants but do not have time for themselves. They fail to realize that it takes only 5 minutes to get the glow on your skin.For a clear skin, make a powdered scrub at home for  natural exfoliation: 2 tsps lemon peel powder, 2 tsps mint paste, 2 tsps china clay, rose water, 2 tsps oatmeal, 2 drops of lemon oil. Mix together with rose water and scrub gently into the skin for 5-7 minutes and wash face with cold water. If you have dry skin you can mix this with milk. Done at least three times a week this will help you protect your skin from the damaging effects of pollution and above all when you see your skin smile… you can too for you  would have done this… Naturally!
